Project Description Life Beyond Tourism^®

The orientation For Intercultural Dialogue 'Life Beyond Tourism^®' was born from over ten years of activities of the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation^®, an activity conducted under the motto "International meetings without competition, with respecting for the individual identity: a past to learn together, a common future to build".

With the collaboration of over 350 academic institutions and universities from over 50 countries, the Foundation has promoted conferences, workshops, and projects in order to promote the respect among people, the safeguarding of the identity of places, and the valorization of our tangible and intangible, cultural and natural heritage.

The Life Beyond Tourism^® orientation holds tourism to be a powerful tool to foster intercultural dialogue and knowledge, without which mutual respect is well nigh impossible. By knowledge here, we mean knowledge of the roots of one's travel destination, and consequently the appreciation of both cultural diversity and traditional knowledge.

In a historical moment in which intercultural dialogue is essential, the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation^® has focused on the research and implementation of the orientation For Intercultural Dialogue 'Life Beyond Tourism^®', originated from the principles of the Manifesto.

Life Beyond Tourism^® is therefore committed to to promote acquaintance with cultural diversity and with traditional knowledge, to impart real added value to travel destinations, and to foster respect among peoples while allowing for their ongoing cultural and economic growth.

Life Beyond Tourism^® is tourism viewed no longer as a 'threat' to our tangible or intangible cultural heritage but as a means of safeguarding that heritage on the basis of intercultural dialogue, going beyond a mere consumer-driven service approach. Accordingly, Life Beyond Tourism^® is symbolized by a flower whose petals stand for ‘encounters’, ‘communication’, ‘knowledge’, ‘conservation’, and ‘economy’.
